National Party Leader Raises Alarm Over Alleged Massive Irregularities in Excise Department Recruitments

Quetta:National Party central leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, has expressed serious concern over what he termed as blatant violations of merit and rules in the recruitment process for vacant posts in the Excise Department.

In a statement, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch urged the Governor of Balochistan, the Chief Minister, the Chief Justice, and the Chief Secretary to take immediate notice of the alleged irregularities. He alleged that during the physical tests, including running and height measurements, candidates who had successfully passed were deliberately excluded, while admit slips for the written examination were issued to individuals who either failed the running test or did not participate in it at all.

He claimed that deserving candidates were barred from appearing in the written test simply because they could not afford to pay bribes. According to him, there are reports that amounts ranging from Rs15 to Rs20 million per post have been taken from selected candidates, who are allegedly being provided the written examination papers in advance.

Calling the situation a grave injustice, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch said such practices amount to the “murder of the aspirations of unemployed youth.” He alleged the existence of a strong mafia and lobby within the Excise Department, which has turned the institution into a “marketing enterprise,” enjoying full backing from the parliamentary secretary.

He further claimed that similar violations of merit had occurred in previous recruitments, where candidates who paid money were selected, and that the same mafia is now repeating history. Criticizing the recruitment process, he sarcastically remarked that if posts are to be sold for money, authorities should directly advertise rates and issue tenders instead of conducting mock tests and interviews, at least saving unemployed youth the cost of photocopies and applications.

Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch also questioned the apparent contradiction between the Chief Minister’s public stance on merit and strict action against the sale of jobs, and the alleged open corruption in the Excise Department. He warned that if immediate action is not taken, the National Party will resort to protests and approach the courts and all available forums to support the affected youth.

He concluded by saying that such injustices are pushing young people toward frustration and alienation from the state, forcing them to consider alternative and dangerous paths.
