Sindh Government Launches Double-Decker Bus Service in Karachi

KARACHI: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Provincial Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday inaugurated the double-decker bus service in Karachi.
During the inauguration ceremony, officials briefed Sharjeel Inam Memon on the features of the new buses. Speaking on the occasion, the senior minister said that the government had promised the public the launch of double-decker buses and was introducing projects aimed at benefiting the maximum number of people.
He stated that the double-decker bus route spans 22 kilometers, with fares ranging between Rs 80 and Rs 120. Initially, the service will operate from Malir to Shahrah-e-Faisal, adding that efforts are being made to expand the service so that double-decker buses can be seen operating on roads across the city.
Sharjeel Memon further said that subsidies are being provided on bus fares and public facilities are being enhanced on a daily basis. He expressed hope that improved transport facilities would be extended across Sindh in the new year.
He also shared that over 125,000 passengers travel daily on the Peoples Bus Service, while around 65,000 commuters use the Green Line Bus Service. He added that work on the Red Line BRT project has resumed.
The provincial minister emphasized that collective efforts are underway to improve Karachi’s road infrastructure. He said a budget of Rs 9 billion has been allocated for industrial areas, while Shahrah-e-Bhutto has been presented to the public as a state-of-the-art roadway.
