Freezing Cold Hits Quetta Amid Gas and Power Shortages, Children and Elderly Suffer

Quetta – The provincial capital is grappling with bone-chilling cold as residents face severe hardships due to ongoing gas and electricity outages. The lack of energy supply has left homes without heating, forcing children and the elderly to endure harsh winter conditions.
According to local reports, most areas of Quetta, including Kasi Road, Shaldara, Kali Durani, Pashtunabad, Khurotabad, Nawan Kali, Jan Muhammad Road, Alamdar Road, Hazara Town, and Mission Road, are experiencing gas shortages. Meanwhile, unscheduled power load-shedding and voltage drops are further aggravating the situation.
The cold weather has also reduced traffic in the city as residents struggle to cope with the harsh conditions. Citizens have demanded that the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sui Southern Gas Company, and senior Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) officials take immediate action to restore gas and electricity and provide relief during the severe cold. They warned that failure to address the crisis could force them to stage protests outside the offices of Sui Gas and QESCO, holding the authorities fully responsible for any consequences.
