Vehicle Owners Alerted: Ban on Cars Without M-Tag to Be Enforced from January 1

**Islamabad:** The government has decided to enforce a ban on vehicles entering the city without an M-Tag starting January 1, aiming to improve traffic management and enhance the monitoring of vehicles entering Islamabad. This step is intended not only to modernize traffic management but also to strengthen security, law enforcement, and the digital vehicle record system.
According to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, the decision was taken following instructions from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, making it mandatory for every vehicle entering the city to have an M-Tag. He stated that strict action will be taken against vehicles without an M-Tag, with no exemptions.
To facilitate M-Tag issuance, 16 service centers have been established across the city, allowing citizens to easily obtain M-Tags for their vehicles. Since November 14, around 100,000 vehicles have already received M-Tags, demonstrating the project’s success and public cooperation.
Deputy Commissioner Memon added that advanced tag readers have been installed at various entry points and checkpoints across Islamabad to automatically scan vehicles’ M-Tags and identify those without one.
He emphasized that from January 1, these tag readers will be fully operational, and the entry of vehicles without an M-Tag will be strictly prohibited. Citizens have been urged to obtain their M-Tags in a timely manner to avoid inconvenience or legal action.
