Pashtunkhwa MAP Condemns Local Election Postponement, Demands Restoration of Gas Supply in Quetta

Quetta (Daily Qudrat): The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Quetta District Committee held a meeting at the party’s central secretariat, chaired by Provincial Senior Vice President and Quetta District Secretary Syed Sharaf Agah. Party executives from Quetta and provincial members, including Sardar Idris Barich, Surat Khan Kakr, Gul Khalji, and Hazrat Umar Advocate, attended the session.
During the meeting, the party praised the successful 52nd commemoration of Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai and the large public gathering, acknowledging the efforts of district committee members and workers. The committee strongly criticized the postponement of local body elections in Quetta, highlighting that PkMAP had fielded candidates across 172 union councils and ran vigorous election campaigns with substantial public support. They accused other political parties of fearing this public mandate and contributing to the delay.
The party warned that those responsible for postponing the elections will be held accountable by the voters. The statement also addressed pressing public issues, including gas shortages in Quetta, noting that despite extreme cold, Sui Southern Gas Company has failed to maintain adequate gas pressure, leaving many areas without supply. PkMAP demanded immediate restoration of gas services and an end to unnecessary load-shedding by K-Electric.
Furthermore, the committee condemned rising crime in Quetta, criticizing police stations for providing protection to criminal elements. PkMAP called on the Quetta IG to personally monitor police stations and take strict measures to safeguard citizens, noting that misconduct by Eagle Squads and other police units, including harassment of motorists and demands for bribes, is worsening public trust in law enforcement.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to addressing public grievances and holding accountable those responsible for administrative failures and delays in democratic processes.
