PkNAP Announces Protest Movement from January 1 Over Power Outages and Public Harassment

Quetta: The Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has announced the launch of a province-wide protest movement from January 1 against what it described as anti-public policies, including the deliberate destruction of electricity infrastructure and the humiliation of citizens at security check posts.
In a press release issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, PkNAP alleged that electricity infrastructure is being intentionally dismantled across Balochistan, particularly in the districts of southern Pakhtunkhwa. The statement claimed that several power feeders have been shut down, wires removed from electricity poles, transformers taken away, and in some areas only single-phase electricity is being provided, which is insufficient to meet basic domestic and agricultural needs.
The party further stated that under the pretext of establishing check posts, residents of cities and towns across southern Pakhtunkhwa are being subjected to continuous humiliation. It also accused the authorities of forcibly shutting down petrol businesses in various cities, especially in Qila Saifullah district, rendering hundreds of people jobless. The party termed these actions as openly anti-people and oppressive.
PkNAP announced that in protest against these policies and measures, a well-organized protest movement will begin on January 1 across different cities and districts of southern Pakhtunkhwa. As part of the movement, public meetings, rallies, and protest demonstrations will be held.
The statement directed all district, tehsil, and local party organizations and workers to immediately begin full preparations for the protest campaign. The party also appealed to the general public to actively participate in the protests and raise their voices against what it called serious issues related to electricity, employment, and human dignity.
