Positive Effects of Prostration on the Brain: Science Reveals Key Findings

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):**
A pilot study conducted in the United States has found that performing prostration (sajdah) for a short duration can influence brain activity.
According to the study published on PubMed Central (PMC), researchers analyzed human brain signals using different frequency bands and other measurable parameters. The research involved three female and two male volunteers, whose brain signals were recorded with both open and closed eyes.
All participants in the study shared the following characteristics:
* No history of psychological disorders
* No past head or spinal surgery or injury
* No history of regular use of neuropsychological medications
* A habit of offering prayers regularly and on time
The results showed that during prostration, certain brain signals decreased in female participants, indicating that the brain entered a calmer or altered state. In contrast, some brain activities increased in male participants during prostration.
The authors of the study stated that this preliminary research highlights the significance of the effects of prostration on the brain and emphasized the need for more detailed and large-scale studies in the future.
According to scientists, this pilot study suggests that even a 10-second prostration can lead to changes in brain activity, with differing effects between men and women. These findings shed light on the potential physical and mental benefits of prayer.
