Ramadan Approaching as Possible Dates Emerge

Islamabad: With the sighting of the moon marking the beginning of Rajab-ul-Murajjab, the countdown to the holy month of Ramadan has officially begun across the country. Rajab is followed by Sha’ban, after which Ramadan arrives — regarded by Muslims as the most sacred month of worship, patience, and piety.

According to the astronomical calendar, the blessed month of Ramadan is expected to begin on either February 20 or 21, 2026, meaning there are approximately 60 to 61 days remaining until its arrival. As a result, enthusiasm among the public has started to grow, with preparations for worship, fasting, and a spiritually uplifting environment gaining momentum.

It is worth noting that if both Rajab and Sha’ban complete their full 30 days, the first fast of Ramadan is likely to fall in the third week of February 2026. However, as per tradition, the final and official announcement will be made only after moon sighting by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Similarly, calendar estimates suggest that if Ramadan consists of 30 days, Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be observed on Sunday, March 22, 2026. In case Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid-ul-Fitr may fall on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The final date for Eid will also be confirmed after the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

Religious scholars emphasize that Muslims should begin preparing spiritually before the arrival of Ramadan by increasing acts of worship, fulfilling the rights of others, and focusing on social welfare activities. Citizens say that with the arrival of Ramadan, mosques, markets, and homes are enveloped in a unique spiritual atmosphere that everyone eagerly awaits.

With the expected dates now emerging, preparations for the holy month of Ramadan have begun nationwide, while the final confirmation remains subject to moon sighting.
