Pakistan-Afghanistan Tension Causes Billions in Losses; Over 4,000 Pakistanis Stranded in Afghanistan

**Chaman/Islamabad:** The ongoing tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan has led to the closure of the border, causing losses worth billions of rupees for traders, while hundreds of Pakistani traders and workers remain stranded in Afghanistan.
The Pashtun National Jirga presented a list of over 2,000 Pakistani traders and workers stuck in Afghanistan to the district administration in Chaman. A delegation of affected traders has traveled to Islamabad to meet Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Trade Rana Ehsan, and officials of the Sindh Industrial and Fisheries Corporation (SIFC) to highlight the challenges caused by the border closure.
According to the jirga delegation, more than 4,000 Pakistanis are currently stranded in Afghanistan, including not only residents of Chaman but also individuals from Punjab and other cities. Senior officials from the Quetta Division have confirmed that the list has been submitted and is under review to ensure steps are taken to assist the stranded traders and workers.
The delegation urged authorities to facilitate the safe return of the stranded Pakistanis and resolve the border-related trade disruptions to prevent further economic losses.
