US Secretary of Homeland Security **Kristi Noem** has confirmed that the tanker was taken into custody, stating that the operation was carried out under the ongoing enforcement of US sanctions.
The seizure took place at a time when President Trump is increasing pressure on the Venezuelan leadership, alongside an expanded US military presence in the region.
