Power Supply System in the Province Has Completely Collapsed: Mir Ziaullah Langove

Quetta: The central spokesperson of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), former interior minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, has expressed strong anger and deep concern over severe announced and unannounced load-shedding across Balochistan, including Quetta, and has urged the federal government to take immediate and serious notice of the ongoing power outages.

In a statement, Mir Ziaullah Langove said that the electricity supply system in the province has completely collapsed. He added that power outages lasting up to two days after even light rainfall have become routine, causing severe mental stress, hardship, and suffering for the public.

He said that rainfall, which should be a blessing, has turned into a source of misery for the people. “As soon as a few drops of rain fall, a complete blackout occurs in Quetta and most parts of Balochistan,” he stated.

The BAP spokesperson said that prolonged power cuts have badly affected household affairs, business activities, educational institutions, and the official working system, while the performance of QESCO has become questionable. He added that during power outages, QESCO officers and staff are nowhere to be seen, and there is no system of accountability.

He further said that even on normal days, announced and unannounced load-shedding has become a torment for the people of the province.

Mir Ziaullah Langove demanded that the provincial government immediately contact the federal government and the federal minister for energy and power to ensure urgent and effective measures on an emergency basis for a permanent solution to the electricity crisis in Balochistan, so that the public can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
