Closing Islamabad or Peshawar Won’t Reduce PTI Founder’s Sentence, Says KP Governor Faisal Kundi

Lahore: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Kareem Kundi, has stated that shutting down Islamabad or Peshawar will not shorten the sentence of PTI founder, and individuals imprisoned in Adiala Jail cannot be released before completing their full term.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, he added that the PTI founder is currently a VVIP inmate in Adiala Jail and does not wish to be treated in any manner contrary to his preferences.
Highlighting governance issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Kundi urged the Chief Minister to focus on solving provincial problems rather than spending time outside Adiala Jail.
He also emphasized that the presence of the PTI founder in the jail has created perceived unfairness for other inmates and requested the Punjab Chief Minister to consider transferring him elsewhere.
Addressing concerns of political retaliation, he said no one should be targeted on political grounds and reiterated his support for dialogue with PTI.
However, he criticized PTI’s current strategy, claiming it involves efforts to bring in the so-called ‘imported opposition’, and questioned PTI leaders about their previous stances regarding Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
