Lashkari Raisani Warns Mines and Minerals Act Threatens National Unity, Calls on Political Parties to Block It

**Quetta:** Senior politician and former Senator Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Khan Raisani has criticized the Mines and Minerals Act, calling it a colonial-style legal mechanism that facilitates the exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources and undermines national unity by allotting them to multinational companies. He expressed concerns that these companies could pledge the nation’s land and resources to international banks, trapping the province in their control for decades.
Raisani made these remarks after meeting with senior Balochistan National Party (BNP) leaders, including Senior Vice President Sajid Tarin Advocate, at Tarin’s residence. Other BNP leaders, including Agha Hasan Baloch and Ghulam Nabi Mari, were also present.
He urged political parties to unite and draft a joint proposal to the provincial government to repeal the law, emphasizing the need to protect the rights and future of upcoming generations. BNP leader Sajid Tarin supported Raisani’s call, noting that after the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, Balochistan’s rights were significantly curtailed, and a collective struggle is urgently needed to safeguard the province’s resources.
