70 Out of 92 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Members Wanted by Federal Police

Islamabad: As many as 70 out of 92 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly are wanted by federal police, with multiple cases registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers in various police stations of Islamabad.
According to police records, the highest number of cases has been registered against former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Islamabad Police have compiled details of previously registered cases, which include serious charges such as terrorism and attacks on police and Rangers personnel.
Most of the PTI MPAs have not yet obtained bail from any court. The current Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is wanted by Islamabad Police in 11 different cases.
Cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and charges related to attacks on police personnel have been registered against several lawmakers. Sohail Afridi is named in seven ATA cases, while a total of 52 FIRs have been registered against former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur alone. These cases were lodged between 2022 and November 2024 across 18 different police stations in Islamabad.
Deputy Speaker Suraiya Bibi faces a case registered in November 2024 for allegedly leading a violent protest. According to police records, KP’s Minister for Local Government and Higher Education, Meena Afridi, has four cases registered against him at Golra, Abpara, Noon, and Secretariat police stations.
Speaker of the KP Assembly Babar Swati is also named in a case registered at Islamabad’s Secretariat Police Station, while prominent Swabi figure Faisal Turkai has been nominated in a case under seven ATA provisions.
Additionally, police records show that Aaqibullah, brother of former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, has been booked in a case registered at the Secretariat Police Station.
The developments highlight the widening legal challenges faced by PTI leadership and lawmakers amid ongoing political tensions.
