Punjab CM Ensures Homes for 720 Working Families, Ends Rental Hardships

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has made arrangements to settle 720 hardworking families in their own homes, freeing them from the burden of monthly rent and the fear of eviction.
The provincial government has launched the initiative under the slogan “One’s Effort, One’s Roof – One’s Struggle, One’s Right.” Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the balloting process for 720 newly constructed flats for homeless industrial workers by pressing a button and congratulated the successful beneficiaries.
On the orders of the Chief Minister, 720 industrial workers will now become owners of fully constructed homes. Special arrangements have also been made for widows and persons with disabilities. The Chief Minister directed that widows and special persons be allotted flats without going through the balloting process.
Further expanding the initiative, the Chief Minister announced that an additional 1,872 flats for industrial workers will be completed within the next 18 months. She also instructed the completion of a bachelor hostel for 700 workers at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura within three months.
For the convenience and safety of special industrial workers, the Chief Minister ordered the allotment of ground-floor flats. She personally called an industrial worker, Nadeem Tahir, to congratulate him, advising him to keep his parents with him, saying their prayers had brought him this home.
Provincial Labour Minister Manshaullah Butt briefed the Chief Minister on the project, stating that free flats, plots, and bachelor hostels for industrial workers reflect the vision of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. A total of 5,897 workers were declared eligible for the Worker Welfare Complex at Sundar Industrial Estate Phase I.
Under the project, 480 flats have been allotted to industrial workers from Kasur, while 240 flats are reserved for workers from Lahore. Widows of workers who died during service will receive a 3 percent quota, while 2 percent is reserved for special workers.
The total cost of the Sundar Industrial Estate flat project is Rs 3.40 billion, with each flat costing more than Rs 3.6 million. Additional housing plans include 672 flats in Sundar Phase II, 656 flats in Multan, and 544 flats in Warburton, Nankana Sahib.
Moreover, 2,000 industrial workers will be provided free three-marla plots in labor colonies being developed in Jhang and Kamalia, with 1,300 plots in Jhang and 700 in Kamalia to be allotted after infrastructure development.
