Pakistani Military Warns Against Attempts to Divide Army and Nation, Terms One Individual a “Threat to National Security”

Islamabad: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has declared that a certain individual has become a threat to Pakistan’s national security, warning that no one will be allowed to create a wedge between the people and the armed forces.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, DG ISPR said the individual in question believes “it’s either him or nothing,” adding that his personal ambitions have grown so excessive that he considers himself above the state. “His narrative has become a danger to Pakistan’s national security. Ending this false narrative is the need of the hour. His politics is over,” he said.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif emphasized that the Pakistan Army does not represent any political party, sect, or group. “We come from the middle class, not from any elite class. If someone attacks the military and its leadership for the sake of personal interests or flawed thinking, it is unacceptable,” he stated. “Do whatever politics you want, but keep the army out of it. We will not allow anyone to drive a wedge between the army and the people of Pakistan.”

### **“Inciting the public against the army will not be tolerated”**

DG ISPR warned that provoking the public against the armed forces will not be accepted. “This army is the shield of the nation — standing between the people and threats like *Khawarij* and *Fitna-e-Hindustan*.”

He also presented a video purportedly showing that several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media accounts were being operated from Afghanistan and India.

During the briefing, the DG ISPR also aired a controversial interview by former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Khan, given to India’s Republic TV, in which she suggested that the KP government should “attack Adiala Jail” for Khan’s release. He stated that her remarks were amplified by Afghan extremist networks, PTI’s alleged facilitators, and Indian media to spread chaos in Pakistan.

### **“These statements are part of an organized campaign against state institutions”**

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif added that such statements are being used by hostile foreign networks to create misunderstandings within Pakistan. “Indian channels and groups abroad are actively interfering in Pakistan’s internal matters. Anti-state elements are fanning this narrative further.”

He questioned the motives behind the individual’s speeches and tweets, saying:
“Who are you, and whose language are you speaking? Signs of psychological disorder have been seen earlier as well. Did he not incite the 9 May attack on GHQ? He believes everyone in the army is a traitor except him. For him, democracy is only when he is in power; otherwise, it’s dictatorship.”

He also criticized the individual for repeatedly citing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. “You have a provincial government — why don’t you talk about that? Pakistan has countless serious issues, yet you keep dragging the army into politics.”

### **Propaganda Over Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Notification**

DG ISPR said massive disinformation was spread regarding the recent notification of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). “A flood of lies was unleashed. Is this what freedom of speech means? Not a single real issue was discussed — only propaganda against the army.”

### **“Talks with terrorists will not be allowed”**

He condemned calls for dialogue with militant groups, saying:
“According to this person’s logic, if India attacked Pakistan, he would pick up a begging bowl and say ‘come, let’s talk.’ He even suggested opening an office for terrorists in Peshawar.”

The DG ISPR accused the individual of encouraging unrest and urging people to oppose intelligence-based operations. “We know exactly what is happening, why it is happening, and who is behind it. This business of lies and deception will not be allowed to continue.”

### **State’s Commitment**

“We have sworn an oath to protect the state. Anyone who thinks he is bigger than the state is mistaken. We stand by the truth and will remain steadfast,” he asserted.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif congratulated the nation on the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces, noting that the CDF Headquarters was long overdue and has now begun functioning. He said the new headquarters will provide comprehensive oversight of war and security matters.

He also clarified that the decision on imposing Governor’s Rule lies with the government, not the army. “We are not going anywhere. We will stand by the truth.”

### **“Support for terrorism under political patronage is a reality”**

He said terrorism cannot be eliminated overnight, and some groups continue receiving political support. The state’s clear stance is that there will be **no dialogue with the Khawarij**.

### **Indian Media Amplifying Anti-Pakistan Narrative**

According to the DG ISPR, Indian and Afghan social media networks are actively pushing their narratives, and “Indian media has become the voice of PTI.” He also said interviews of KP CM and others are repeatedly broadcast on Indian channels for political manipulation.

He added that the government has institutions capable of regulating social media.

### **9 May Cases Concluded in Military Courts**

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said the cases related to the 9 May riots in military courts have been concluded. “9 May is not the army’s case — it is the case of the Pakistani nation.”
