Police Disperse PTI Sit-In Near Adiala Jail Using Water Cannon; Several Workers Detained

Rawalpindi — Police on Wednesday dispersed a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in at Factory Naka near Adiala Jail after tensions escalated between security personnel and protesters.
According to reports, police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators, while PTI workers responded with stone-pelting. Several party workers were taken into custody during the clashes.
The protest began after PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and the sisters of party founder Imran Khan were denied permission to meet him in jail. Police stopped Imran Khan’s sisters at Factory Naka, prompting Aleema Khan to urge supporters to remain calm and step back from the checkpoint.
Despite her attempts to de-escalate the situation, tensions rose and chaotic scenes unfolded at the protest site. Water cannon deployment affected multiple demonstrators, and clashes continued as police attempted to restore order.
Journalist Hasnain Rafiq reported on social media that Member of National Assembly Shahid Khattak fell into a drain while helping Uzma Khanam, resulting in a fractured leg.
Following the unrest, additional police reinforcements arrived at the scene to gain control of the situation and disperse the remaining protesters.
