Quetta Local Body Elections Postponement Requested by Balochistan Government Citing Security and Harsh Weather

Quetta: The Balochistan government has formally requested the Election Commission to postpone the upcoming local body elections in Quetta. According to sources, the Chief Minister of Balochistan submitted the request, citing the delicate law-and-order situation in the city, suspension of internet services, and severe weather conditions that have forced large-scale public displacement.

The request notes that elections in other districts were held three years ago, and their terms are set to expire in just nine months. Despite all preparations for the Quetta elections being complete, the voting was scheduled to take place on December 28 as per the existing schedule.
