Drought Alert Issued for Balochistan; Below-Average Rainfall and Higher Temperatures Expected Until February 2026: Meteorological Department

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily)** – The Meteorological Department has issued a pre-alert advisory for Balochistan due to worsening drought conditions across the province. Officials warned that rainfall deficiency in western and southwestern districts has reached critical levels, and the situation is expected to deteriorate further in the coming months.
According to the advisory, from May to November this year, districts including Quetta, Chagai, Nushki, Gwadar, Kech, Kharan, Mastung, Pishin, Panjgur, Qila Abdullah, and Washuk experienced record-long dry spells due to negligible rainfall.
The department forecasted that until February 2026, temperatures in the western and southwestern regions of Balochistan are likely to remain above normal, while rainfall is expected to stay below average, heightening concerns over water scarcity and agricultural impact.
