Pakistan Formally Requests UK to Extradite Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja

Islamabad: Pakistan has formally requested the United Kingdom to extradite Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja, stating that both individuals are “highly wanted” in ongoing cases and must be handed over to Pakistani authorities without delay.

The demand was made by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during a key meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Islamabad. The meeting focused on Pakistan–UK bilateral relations, security cooperation, and issues of mutual interest. Federal Secretary for Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha and other senior officials were also present.

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi discussed the repatriation of Pakistani nationals residing illegally in the UK and handed over official extradition documents for Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja to the British High Commissioner.

The Interior Minister emphasized that both individuals are required in Pakistan for legal proceedings and should be returned “as soon as possible.” He also provided evidence against Pakistan-origin individuals involved in anti-state propaganda from abroad.

Naqvi said Pakistan fully supports freedom of expression, but spreading fake news and maligning state institutions cannot be tolerated by any country. He added that Islamabad welcomes British cooperation in curbing anti-Pakistan propaganda and ensuring the return of those involved.

He further stated that the Interior Ministry, through the Foreign Office, has already initiated the formal extradition process.

The British High Commissioner assured continued cooperation between the two countries on matters of mutual concern.
