Will Change No Course; Will March Toward Islamabad if Needed: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Mardan — Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his party will not change its path and will head toward Islamabad if circumstances demand.
Addressing a ceremony marking the completion of Hifz-ul-Qur’an at Jamia Islamia in Babozai, Mardan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Pakistan was meant to be a country that fulfilled the Islamic aspirations of its people — a place where religious practices could be carried out freely.
He said the country should have been a symbol of peace, brotherhood, and freedom, but instead, governments have failed to provide people with their rights. “Today, the Constitution has been turned into a toy,” he stated, adding that constitutional amendments are being made to satisfy the powerful, not the public.
The JUI-F chief claimed that public aspirations were being sabotaged, alleging that lawmakers were “purchased” to create a two-thirds majority for the 27th Amendment. He called the amendment a product of a “hollow majority.”
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also criticized the government over stalled CPEC projects and said that Pakistan’s diplomacy on Afghanistan had failed. He declared that problems cannot be solved through war rhetoric. “Trump has Palestinian blood on his hands, yet Shehbaz Sharif talks about awarding him a Nobel Peace Prize,” he said.
He urged both Pakistan and Afghanistan to reassess their approaches, reiterating that he does not support armed actions. “Armed groups must abandon violence; war is never a solution,” he said.
Reiterating his political stance, he warned that if required, his party would march toward Islamabad again. He also said the country’s economy has been destroyed, stressing that the current conditions cannot continue unchecked.
