No Extraordinary Complaints Received During By-Elections, Says Chief Election Commissioner

**Islamabad** – Chairman of the Election Commission of Pakistan, **Sikandar Sultan Raja**, expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the by-elections, stating that **no extraordinary complaints were reported**. He also thanked the provincial governments for implementing effective security measures.
Speaking to media representatives at the Election Commission, CEC Raja said that the by-elections were conducted **peacefully**, and he specifically appreciated the efforts of the **Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments**.
He noted that by-elections generally see **lower voter turnout** due to various reasons, and this particular election did not involve any major change in numbers, which contributed to reduced public interest.
The Chief Election Commissioner confirmed that the commission **took action against violations of the code of conduct**, either through reports received from District Returning Officers (DROs) or on its own notice. However, he reiterated that **no extraordinary complaints** were recorded during today’s by-elections.
CEC Raja also mentioned that **Talal Chaudhry** has been summoned for a hearing tomorrow and highlighted that in previous local government elections, **a minister and a candidate were disqualified** for code of conduct violations.
He emphasized that all actions follow a **legal framework**, adding that election violations occur worldwide, and the commission periodically submits recommendations to the government. He clarified that the commission **has no authority to direct tribunals**.
