E-Challan System Launched in Rawalpindi as Safe City Project Becomes Fully Operational

Rawalpindi – The Safe City project has been formally activated in Rawalpindi, paving the way for the launch of the **e-challan system** to monitor and penalize traffic violations through advanced surveillance technology.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi **Farhan Aslam** confirmed that traffic violations captured by Safe City cameras will now result in **automated e-challans**.
He stated that **more than 2,000 cameras have been installed at 359 locations** across the city, enabling real-time monitoring of violations such as **helmet and seatbelt non-compliance, signal jumping, and other traffic offences**.
According to the CTO, e-challans will be **sent directly to vehicle owners’ home addresses**, complete with pictures and violation codes. The e-challan system is fully linked with the **Safe City Command and Control Centre**.
Farhan Aslam added that the Safe City cameras will also strengthen overall law enforcement and contribute to improved traffic management throughout Rawalpindi.
