US Approves Sale of Anti-Tank Missiles and Advanced Weapons to India Worth $93 Million

Islamabad – The United States has approved a major arms deal with India, allowing New Delhi to purchase military equipment worth $93 million, including advanced anti-tank missiles.

According to Reuters, the weapons package includes Javelin anti-tank missile systems and Excalibur guided artillery rounds. The U.S. State Department confirmed approval for the sale of modern defense equipment, enabling India to acquire Javelin systems and Excalibur artillery valued at $93 million.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) also issued a statement on Wednesday confirming that the deal has been approved under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

The announcement comes months after President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Indian products to 50 percent in August, a move aimed at pressuring New Delhi over its continued purchase of Russian oil — a step that heightened tensions between the two countries.

Earlier this month, India also placed a repeat order for fighter jet engines to power its locally manufactured Tejas combat aircraft.

According to DSCA, the Indian government had requested up to 216 Excalibur tactical projectiles and 100 Javelin anti-tank systems. The agency added that the contract for the Excalibur rounds has been awarded to RTX Corporation, while the Javelin missile systems will be supplied through a joint venture between RTX and Lockheed Martin.
