FAPUASA and BUJ Academic Staff Refute Claims of Crisis Resolution in Balochistan Universities

Quetta:The spokesperson for FAPUASA and the Academic Staff Association of the University of Balochistan has strongly rejected reports circulating in certain newspapers and on social media suggesting that all public universities in Balochistan have fully overcome their financial and administrative crises.
In a clarification statement, the spokesperson said such claims are “baseless and contrary to facts,” emphasizing that more than 100 faculty members and employees of the University of Balochistan are still deprived of their lawful pension contributions for the past four years.
According to the statement, the provincial government has also failed to provide full payment of the officially announced increases in salaries and pensions for the fiscal years 2024–25 and 2025–26. Additionally, despite formal approval from the university’s policymaking bodies, various allowances continue to be deducted illegally.
The spokesperson further highlighted that faculty and staff remain deprived of the approved upgradation and time-scale benefits. Moreover, due to the non-advertisement of sanctioned vacant positions, dozens of eligible teachers have been denied promotion for the past 20 years despite fulfilling all necessary criteria—an injustice termed “deeply alarming.”
Concerns were also raised over the widespread absence of permanent appointments to key administrative positions—such as pro-vice chancellors, registrars, treasurers, and controllers of examinations—in most public universities of the province. Many institutions are still being run by acting vice chancellors and acting pro-vice chancellors, contrary to legal and merit-based requirements for permanent appointments.
The statement urged the provincial government to ensure that faculty and employees of all public universities receive salaries and allowances equal to those provided to officers and staff of the Provincial Civil Secretariat and Governor’s Secretariat. It also called for immediate action to implement upgradation, advertise approved vacant posts, restore pension contributions, clear medical and examination bills, and release all outstanding dues without delay.
