Peshawar High Court Orders PTI-Led KP Government to Stop Using State Resources for Political Rallies

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial government to immediately halt the use of state machinery and government resources in political rallies, protests, and million marches.
The court issued a **four-page written judgment** on a petition filed against the provincial government’s alleged use of official resources in political activities.
In its ruling, the court instructed the KP government and all relevant authorities to ensure that **no government machinery, employees, or resources are used** for political gatherings, rallies, or marches. The petitioner had argued that the provincial government regularly employed state resources during political events.
The judgment stated that the use of public resources for political purposes amounts to the **misuse of the national exchequer** and violates Articles **4, 5, and 25** of the Constitution. It added that state machinery used in protests is still in the custody of the federal government.
The Peshawar High Court emphasized that the state must draw a **clear distinction between official events and political activities**. Using government machinery for political purposes undermines administrative neutrality and violates the code of conduct.
The court further noted that the misuse of government resources constitutes **abuse of authority**, highlighting that political events must not rely on public funds or state facilities.
