Balochistan Assembly Passes Bill to Ban Child Marriages; CM Emphasizes Government’s Constitutional Right

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the passage of the bill prohibiting child marriages reflects the government’s constitutional and democratic authority, amid opposition protests during the provincial assembly session.
Speaking to the media, CM Bugti noted that the proposed bill had been under review by the assembly’s relevant committees for the past six months, and cabinet approval had already been secured. Today, it was passed by a majority vote in accordance with parliamentary rules, which he described as a sign of a strong democratic process.
He emphasized that protest is the opposition’s right, which the government respects, and that doors for dialogue remain open, calling differing opinions “the beauty of democracy.”
CM Bugti further stated that the current government undertakes all legislative actions with consultation, transparency, and broad consensus, while continuing serious efforts to promote development and public welfare in Balochistan.
