Justice Aminuddin Likely to Be Appointed Head of Federal Constitutional Court

**ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily):** Justice Aminuddin Khan, currently heading the Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench, is expected to be appointed as the **Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court**, with the official notification likely to be issued today.
Sources said that following the **gazette notification of the 27th Constitutional Amendment**, the head of the Federal Constitutional Court will be designated. Justice Aminuddin, who is set to retire from the Supreme Court later this month, will have his tenure extended if appointed to the new position.
Chief Justice Yahya Khan Afridi has hosted a **dinner in honor of Justice Aminuddin**, which will take place tomorrow at the Chief Justice’s House, with Supreme Court judges also invited.
Under the **27th Constitutional Amendment**, the **Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench** will be replaced by the **Federal Constitutional Court**. The amendment, now part of the Constitution after presidential approval, also specifies that the current Chief Justice will retain the title of **Chief Justice of Pakistan** until the end of their term.
According to the amendment, the **most senior judge** between the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court will hold the position of **Chief Justice of Pakistan**. The President, on the advice of the Prime Minister, will appoint judges of the Federal Constitutional Court as per the new constitutional provisions.
