Article 6 Still Valid After 27th Amendment, Accountability Will Come, Says Latif Khosa

Islamabad: PTI leader and former Punjab Governor **Sardar Latif Khosa** has stated that former military ruler Pervez Musharraf faced consequences under **Article 6** for violating the Constitution, and even after the **27th constitutional amendment, Article 6 remains in effect**. He warned that **everyone will be held accountable when the time comes**.

Speaking at a press conference alongside **PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja**, **Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai**, **Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas**, and **Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar**, Latif Khosa criticized the 27th amendment for undermining Pakistan’s judiciary. He claimed that the amendment **diminished the authority of courts**, effectively **ended the position of the Chief Justice**, and allowed interference in the judiciary, including **transfers of judges and appointments of compliant judges**.

Khosa also criticized the government for rushing the amendment’s passage, stating that **Senator Irfan Siddiqui had passed away the previous morning**, but instead of observing the condolence, the government hurriedly pushed the amendment through the Senate.

Salman Akram Raja added that during the **Senate vote for the 27th amendment**, some senators betrayed their parties, and votes were allegedly coerced. He said the amendment **undermined the independence of the judiciary**, leaving judges demoralized.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar urged judges to **voice their concerns within the judiciary**, noting letters from **Justice Mansoor Ali Shah** and **Justice Athar Minallah** had surfaced, but the matter had progressed beyond mere correspondence. He emphasized that judges must **display leadership and ensure the judiciary is not perceived as passive or compliant**, warning that those who remain silent risk **being forgotten in history**.

The press conference highlighted **growing concerns over judicial independence and the implications of the 27th amendment on Pakistan’s constitutional framework**.
