PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Says “When the Man of Steel Is Released, These Courts Will Be Abolished”

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that once the “Man of Steel” is released from jail, these courts will be abolished.
Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, Barrister Gohar sharply criticized the recently passed constitutional amendment and questioned the government’s approach to lawmaking. “We make laws and then seek exemptions from them. Are we creating an elite class that is above the law?” he asked. “If Asif Zardari faces corruption charges, can he not appear in court to prove them wrong?”
He said constitutional amendments in a democracy are made through consensus, not coercion. “You have abolished the Chief Justice of Pakistan; now the title has been changed to Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Tomorrow, when Pakistan needs representation globally, there will be no Chief Justice of Pakistan to stand for the nation.”
Barrister Gohar further criticized the government for empowering the Prime Minister to appoint the Chief Justice of the proposed Constitutional Court, calling it “a fatal blow to democracy.” He said, “You passed this amendment with the votes of two defectors; such an amendment cannot serve the people.”
Taking a swipe at the government’s fear of PTI founder Imran Khan, he added, “Your fear is extraordinary—doors remain closed, no one dares meet him, and even a message from him terrifies you. But when the Man of Steel is released from prison, these courts will cease to exist.”
