Saudi Government Bars Sick Individuals from Performing Hajj; Strict Regulations Enforced

Islamabad: The Saudi government has imposed strict restrictions prohibiting individuals with certain medical conditions from performing Hajj, warning that violators will be deported at their own expense.
According to the **Ministry of Religious Affairs**, pilgrims and medical professionals issuing fitness certificates should be aware of the new rules. Individuals with serious health conditions—including cancer, heart, kidney, lung, liver diseases, neurological disorders, psychological illnesses, or weak memory—will not be allowed to perform Hajj. Pregnant women, as well as those suffering from whooping cough, tuberculosis, or viral hemorrhagic fever, are also barred.
The ministry stated that legal action will be taken against doctors providing false or inaccurate medical certificates. Sick pilgrims attempting Hajj will be deported, and all related costs will be borne by the pilgrim. Saudi monitoring teams will verify the authenticity of fitness certificates.
The Ministry emphasized that only pilgrims meeting the required health standards will be permitted to travel, and medical officers have the authority to prevent unfit individuals from departing for Hajj.
