PTI Leader Asad Qaiser Expresses Concern Over 27th Constitutional Amendment, Accuses PPP of Complicity

Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader **Asad Qaiser** has voiced serious concern over the proposed **27th Constitutional Amendment**, calling it a “Pandora’s box” and accusing the **Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)** of being equally responsible for the move.
Speaking to the media, Qaiser said that **Bilawal Bhutto’s recent tweet regarding the amendment has raised strong apprehensions**, adding that the entire process “appears to be a pre-planned drama.”
“This whole exercise — with 7 to 8 talking points — is just a show. In the end, the PPP will claim it has protected the 18th Amendment, while in reality, all decisions have already been made,” he alleged.
The PTI leader lamented that today’s PPP has deviated from the legacy of **Zulfikar Ali Bhutto**, who framed the 1973 Constitution, and **Benazir Bhutto**, who sacrificed her life for democracy.
“Today’s PPP,” he said, “is playing a role in **burying democracy rather than defending it.**”
Qaiser also criticized **PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif**, saying, “You once raised the slogan of ‘Vote Ko Izzat Do’ (respect the vote). Where is that slogan now? On February 8, you should have made a principled decision not to join this government. The power you now hold came through persuasion and compromise — not public mandate.”
Discussing PTI’s strategy, Asad Qaiser said that **recommendations have been shared with party founder Imran Khan through Salman Akram Raja**, and a formal **press release will be issued after consultations** later in the evening.
He added that PTI would continue to stand firm for **democracy, constitutional supremacy, and the rights of the people.**
“We will present our stance in Parliament and raise every issue on all forums. If there is any interference in judicial or administrative processes, we will take the legal route,” he asserted.
Qaiser concluded by reaffirming PTI’s resolve:
“We are standing with our people and will continue to struggle for their rights. God willing, we will keep fighting for the supremacy of democracy and the Constitution.”
