Sindh High Court Dismisses Jamaat-e-Islami’s Petition Against Load Shedding in Karachi

Karachi: The **Sindh High Court** has dismissed a petition filed by **Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Munim Zafar Khan** challenging load shedding in the city based on line losses, terming the petition **inadmissible**.
During the hearing, the court directed that matters related to load shedding should be referred to **NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority)**. The court remarked that NEPRA should resolve complaints within **one month** and submit a report in **MIT-2**.
The court observed that, according to Supreme Court directives, petitions concerning load shedding are **not maintainable**, but under **Section 39 of the NEPRA Act**, petitioners have the option to approach NEPRA directly.
The petitioner’s lawyer had argued that load shedding based on line losses is illegal and that prolonged outages in the city severely affect daily life.
