Winter Intensifies Across Balochistan as Freezing Winds Grip Quetta; Gas Shortage Adds to Citizens’ Misery

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** The intensity of winter has sharply increased across Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, as icy winds sweep through the region, causing temperatures to drop rapidly. Residents have begun wearing warm clothing, while markets are witnessing a surge in demand for jackets, socks, and heaters.
According to details, **heavy snowfall in Afghanistan’s Balkh province and adjoining border areas** has pushed cold air masses into northern Balochistan, further chilling districts such as Quetta, Pishin, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Chaman, Ziarat, and Kalat. The Meteorological Department has predicted that temperatures will continue to fall in the coming days, with Quetta’s minimum temperature expected to approach subzero levels.
Meanwhile, the onset of cold weather has been made worse by **low gas pressure and frequent outages** across Quetta. The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has reportedly suspended gas supply from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., while low pressure during morning hours has created severe hardship for households, particularly women struggling to prepare breakfast and heat their homes.
Citizens have urged the government to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply amid the freezing temperatures. As the cold intensifies, **local markets in Quetta are bustling** with buyers purchasing warm clothes and heaters, providing a temporary boost to seasonal trade.
