Repatriation of Afghan Refugees from Chaman Border Accelerates Amid Mounting Hardships

Refugees Face New Delays Due to Vehicle Checks Despite Increased NADRA Facilities

**Chaman (Daily Qudrat)** — The repatriation of Afghan refugees through the **Chaman-Pakistan border** continues on a large scale, though the process remains marred by delays and mounting difficulties. Thousands of refugees returning to Afghanistan are facing hardship due to slow border management and strict inspection procedures.

According to reports, Afghan families continue to cross the border daily, but sluggish administrative arrangements are creating bottlenecks. Earlier, refugees endured long waits because of insufficient **NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority)** counters. Government intervention helped resolve the issue by increasing the number of counters, which briefly eased the situation.

However, new problems have since emerged. Sources revealed that after completing the NADRA verification process, **refugees are now being delayed at the border under the pretext of vehicle inspections**, disrupting the overall repatriation flow. Long queues of vehicles now stretch from the **holding camps to the border crossing**, while nearby open areas are overcrowded with stranded families.

Among those waiting are **women, children, and elderly individuals**, who are enduring severe hardship due to **daytime heat and cold nights**. The lack of adequate shelter, food, and basic amenities has worsened their suffering.

Local residents and social representatives have **appealed to the authorities to expedite and streamline the repatriation process**, emphasizing the need for a **humanitarian approach** to minimize the refugees’ distress and ensure a dignified return to their homeland.
