First E-Challan to Be Waived, Repeat Offenders Must Pay: Sindh CM Says Police Not Above the Law

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister **Murad Ali Shah** has announced that under the new **e-challan system**, motorists will be **forgiven for their first traffic violation**, but repeat offenders will be required to **pay the fine**. He emphasized that **no one, including the police, is above the law**.
According to **Geo News**, the Chief Minister was briefed by **Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon** regarding traffic law enforcement across the province. The IG presented a report showing that **35 government vehicles** had been fined through the **electronic ticketing system** for violations including **not wearing seat belts, jumping red lights, using mobile phones while driving, and tinted windows**.
The report also revealed that the **first police vehicle** to be fined under the system was **SPE-950**, which received an e-challan on **October 28** for a **seatbelt violation** on **Lyari Expressway**.
CM Murad Ali Shah directed all citizens, including police officials, to **adhere strictly to traffic laws** for their own safety. He stated, *“I have instructed that the first challan should be waived, but anyone who repeats the violation will have to pay. The Sindh Police’s new e-ticketing system is proving effective. Everyone has equal rights under the law, and its enforcement must be ensured.”*
The IG Sindh added that motorists receiving their **first e-challan** could **contact authorities within 10 days** to **have the fine waived** as part of the initial leniency policy.
