Faisal Karim Kundi Claims Numbers Strong, Promises to Form Government in Azad Kashmir Soon

Islamabad: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, asserted that his party has the necessary numbers and will soon form the government in Azad Kashmir.
In an interview with Geo News, he emphasized that the Chief Minister should engage all political parties, forming a joint forum with the opposition to approach the federal government for the region’s rights. He added that a parliamentary forum should also be created, similar to the jirga held in Khyber. “Strength alone doesn’t achieve everything; dialogue and coordination are essential,” he said.
Governor Kundi further stated that forming a provincial cabinet is not a major issue. A small cabinet could be constituted through consultations with senior leaders, as several important decisions and files are currently pending due to the absence of a full cabinet. He highlighted that the province’s biggest challenge remains law and order, considering both relations with Afghanistan and internal security.
He also mentioned that the Chief Minister should have personally attended the recent meeting with the Prime Minister to record the province’s protest and stance, instead of sending former Finance Advisor Mazammil Aslam, who could not represent the government officially. “Such forums should not be left vacant when they can yield benefits for the province,” Kundi said.
