495 Trucks Stranded at Torkham and Chaman Borders Awaiting Clearance: FBR

*ISLAMABAD:* The **Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)** has reported that approximately **495 transit cargo trucks** are currently stranded at the **Torkham and Chaman border crossings**, waiting to cross into Afghanistan.

According to the FBR, **bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan** has been **temporarily suspended due to security concerns**. Prior to the suspension, customs authorities had already cleared **363 import vehicles** at the **Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, and Angoor Adda** border points.

The statement noted that at Torkham, **23 import vehicles** are still awaiting clearance, as their importers have **not yet submitted goods declarations**. These vehicles are carrying **non-perishable goods** such as fabric, paint, peanuts, and pulses. The FBR added that customs clearance will be completed **immediately after** the importers file the necessary documentation.

Due to the border closure, around **255 export vehicles** are currently parked **inside the Torkham terminal**, while another **200 trucks** are stuck along the **Jamrud–Landi Kotal Road**. No import vehicles are pending clearance at the **Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, or Angoor Adda** border stations.

At the **Chaman border**, customs operations have been **suspended since October 15, 2025**, with **five import** and **23 export trucks** waiting for processing. The owners of these shipments have **refused to take their goods back**, choosing instead to wait for the **reopening of the border** and the **resumption of trade**.

The FBR emphasized that customs staff remain deployed at all border points and that **clearance operations will resume immediately** once **border trade returns to normal**.
