Government Not Against Religious Parties; TLP Was Spreading Chaos, Not Politics: Uzma Bukhari

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Information **Uzma Bukhari** has said that the government is not taking action against religious parties but against those spreading chaos and instability in the country. She stated that **Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP)** was not engaged in political activity but was involved in acts that disturbed law and order.
Speaking on a private TV program, Bukhari clarified that the government fully respects religious organizations but would not tolerate elements that incite unrest. “TLP was launched as an organized project,” she said, adding that its activities could not be classified as peaceful political protests.
The minister revealed that the government has formed a **special prosecutor cell** to deal with such groups that re-emerge under new names after being banned. The cell will ensure evidence-based investigations and speedy legal proceedings against those found guilty.
Bukhari further stated that according to intelligence reports, **TLP’s top leadership is currently not present in Punjab**, as they frequently change locations to evade arrest. However, she added that **law enforcement agencies are tracking them**, and news of their **arrests is expected soon**.
