KP Chief Minister Blames Federal Government’s Policies for Resurgence of Terrorism
Demands release of War on Terror funds; rejects outdated bulletproof vehicles supplied by Centre
Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister **Mohammad Sohail Afridi** has blamed the **federal government’s flawed policies** for the **resurgence of terrorism** in the province, saying Islamabad has **failed to provide War on Terror funds and other constitutional rights** to KP.
Chairing his first formal cabinet meeting, the newly elected Chief Minister reviewed the **provincial government’s good governance roadmap**, law and order situation, and anti-corruption initiatives. Officials briefed him on recent **terror incidents**, police reforms, and the **provincial action plan for peace**.
Afridi criticized the federal government for ignoring KP’s sacrifices, saying:
> “The federal government’s wrong policies have once again brought terrorism to our province. Islamabad must realize our sacrifices and release our funds on time so we can strengthen our police and fight terrorism effectively.”
He also expressed outrage over the **old and substandard bulletproof vehicles** supplied by the federal interior ministry to KP Police, calling them “an insult” to the province’s law enforcement personnel.
> “These outdated vehicles should be returned immediately,” Afridi said, adding that the **security withdrawn from former chief ministers** should be restored to ensure their safety and dignity.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that **PTI governs KP under the lifelong chairmanship of Imran Khan**, stressing that implementing the ruling party’s agenda is the duty of the bureaucracy.
He declared **zero tolerance for corruption**, warning that any public servant found guilty would face severe punishment.
Afridi also announced several **development projects** for the merged tribal districts, including:
* **Tribal Medical College** and **Tribal University of Modern Sciences**
* **Safe City Project** for merged districts
* **University of Investigative and Modern Journalism** in honor of the late journalist **Arshad Sharif**
* **Playgrounds at the tehsil level** across all merged districts
* **Peshawar Revival and Development Plan**
He emphasized that KP has its own political and cultural identity and that his government would not allow it to be undermined.
Later, Chief Minister Afridi chaired a **PTI parliamentary party meeting** at the provincial assembly, urging members to attend sessions punctually and uphold the party’s legislative agenda.
Opposition Leader **Dr. Ibad** and several **opposition women legislators** also met with the Chief Minister to discuss assembly business and the provincial government’s stance on terrorism and governance issues.
