Balochistan to Digitize Zakat System for Transparent Fund Distribution

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has decided to fully digitize the province’s Zakat system to ensure transparent and efficient disbursement of funds to deserving individuals. The decision was made during a high-level meeting on Zakat and Auqaf reforms chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the CM Secretariat on Thursday.
Under the new system, Zakat funds will be directly transferred into beneficiaries’ digital accounts, ensuring transparency, merit, and the use of modern technology in fund distribution.
CM Bugti directed that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will assist in identifying beneficiaries, while NADRA data and advanced digital systems will be used to verify recipients. *“This initiative will eliminate corruption, irregularities, and mismanagement, thereby restoring public confidence,”* he said.
He added that the fair and efficient use of Zakat funds would promote social justice and directly benefit the most deserving citizens. *“Our top priority is to establish a transparent, merit-based system to provide maximum relief to the poor and underprivileged segments of society,”* the chief minister emphasized.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Parliamentary Secretary for Zakat Shahnaz Umrani, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary Zakat and Auqaf Muhammad Ishaq Jamali, Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon, and Additional Secretary to CM Muhammad Fareedoon.
