Continuous Gas Suspension Makes Citizens’ Lives Miserable; Authorities’ Negligence Regrettable: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam

Gas load-shedding in Quetta should be ended immediately and uninterrupted supply ensured; the public’s patience should not be tested further

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam District Quetta Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, Secretary General Haji Aineullah Shams, Senior Deputy Amir Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, Secretary Finance Haji Saleh Muhammad, Seth Ajmal Bazi, Mir Hishmat Lehri, Mufti Reza Khan, Haji Zafarullah Kakar, Mir Sarfaraz Shahwani, Salar Maulana Ali Jan, Maulana Syed Saadullah Agha, and Maulana Naqeebullah Malakhail have expressed grave concern over the ongoing gas load-shedding in Quetta, saying that the continuous suspension of gas has made citizens’ lives miserable, and the negligence of gas authorities in resolving the problems faced by the public is regrettable.

Due to gas suspension from 9 AM to noon and from Zuhr to Maghrib, domestic consumers are facing severe difficulties in cooking and other daily household chores. The uncertain supply of gas and prolonged load-shedding are further adding to the basic problems of citizens. The concerned authorities must understand that gas is among the basic necessities of citizens, therefore ensuring its uninterrupted supply with adequate pressure is their responsibility.

The leaders said that every year during the winter season, the people of Quetta face gas load-shedding, low pressure, and uncertain supply issues, but gas authorities remain limited to temporary measures and traditional assurances instead of finding a permanent solution. Instead of testing the public’s patience further, the concerned authorities should fulfill their responsibility and take practical measures for an immediate and permanent solution to the crisis arising in gas supply.

They said that the citizens of Quetta regularly pay their gas bills, yet they continue to face persistent difficulties in gas supply. Instead of ignoring public complaints and the ground reality, gas authorities should ensure effective measures and provide immediate relief to consumers facing difficulties. They demanded that gas load-shedding in Quetta be ended immediately, the low-pressure issue resolved, and uninterrupted gas supply ensured during the winter season. They made it clear that the practice of making the public face a gas crisis every year is no longer acceptable, and concerned authorities should take immediate notice of public difficulties and take practical measures.
