Maryam Nawaz Accuses PTI of Turning Murree’s Forests Into ‘Concrete Jungle’

Murree: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, accusing it of cutting down Murree’s forests and turning the scenic hill station into a “concrete city.”

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the **Nawaz Sharif Cardiac Center at Samli Sanatorium Hospital**, Maryam said that unlike the previous government, the PML-N is delivering practical results instead of hollow promises.

She alleged that the PTI government allowed large-scale illegal constructions in Murree, forcing the current administration to take corrective action.

“Politics is a difficult journey; it is the name of service, not just slogans. For the first time since the 1930s, Samli Sanatorium Hospital has been upgraded,” she said.

Maryam, who described Murree as her “second home,” highlighted the lack of cardiac facilities in the region. “If a heart patient in Murree suffered an attack, they often didn’t have enough time to reach Rawalpindi. Sometimes, patients died on the way. That is why we established this cardiac hospital, which has already performed five angiographies today.”

She further announced plans to **launch a train service between Murree and Rawalpindi** to ease tourist access, along with the introduction of **green buses**, road infrastructure upgrades, and a **clean water project** for the hill station.

“Within two years, Murree will become one of the world’s finest tourist destinations. The difference in development is clear the moment one enters Murree from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the Punjab CM remarked.
