Pakistan Announces Regional Conference Under New Silk Way Forum to Boost Trade Volume

Islamabad: Pakistan has announced the hosting of a major regional conference under the New Silk Way Forum to enhance regional trade volume.

The decision was made during a roundtable conference on transport, held in Kazakhstan, where ministers from 12 countries participated. Pakistan was represented by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.

In his address, Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the need for member states to focus on establishing trade corridors to strengthen connectivity and promote commerce. He noted that increasing land linkages had become a necessity to expand trade.

The minister further highlighted the importance of expanding air connectivity, stating that more flights between member states were essential to facilitate business communities and citizens. He announced that a **Regional Transport Ministers’ Conference** will be held in Islamabad on **October 23–24**, with invitations extended to all member countries.

Abdul Aleem Khan underscored that Central Asian states act as a gateway for Pakistan, and regional cooperation could significantly improve both the economy and transportation networks. He also termed the recent visit of Kazakhstan’s Vice President and ministers to Pakistan as highly beneficial.

Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister, Nurlan Sauranbayev, who hosted the conference, expressed goodwill towards Pakistan and voiced optimism for positive outcomes from the forum.
