Border Closure Unacceptable, Says National Party Leaders in Turbat

Turbat:National Party leaders have strongly opposed the repeated closure of the Pakistan-Iran border, terming it unjustified and harmful for the people of Balochistan, particularly Makran, whose livelihoods are tied to cross-border trade.

In a meeting with a delegation of the Border Committee led by Mulla Saleem, Haji Niaz Ahmed Shanambayzai, Pazir Ahmed, and Maulana Muhammad Akram, NP leaders Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi, Central Joint Secretary Mir Haml Baloch, and Mir Bajar Baloch expressed solidarity with the committee’s demands.

They stressed that border trade must be given **legal and constitutional protection**, as arbitrary restrictions severely affect the economic survival of local communities.

> “Across the world, border populations enjoy trade freedom. Here, repeated closures and unnecessary checkpoints are turning people’s right to livelihood into a constant struggle,” the leaders said.

They added that if the border is not reopened, the issue will be **raised in the Senate** and responsible authorities will be directly engaged. The leaders also warned that if needed, the party would support **widespread protests** alongside the Border Committee.
