Hasan Raheem Reveals Why His Father Considered Collecting Guests’ Phones at Wedding

Islamabad: Popular singer Hasan Raheem has opened up about the behind-the-scenes moments of his viral wedding celebrations, sharing details about family traditions and the cultural essence of Gilgit-Baltistan that captured global attention.

In a recent interview, Hasan revealed that his mother insisted he wear a *shoka* — a traditional outfit passed down from his grandfather to his father. “She said, this was my father’s *shoka* and now it’s yours. It’s something that has been carried through generations,” he said, adding that the feather on his *pakhool* cap, called *shati*, remains particularly dear to him.

The singer admitted he never expected the dances and festivities from his wedding to gain such massive popularity online. “Our dance is usually appreciated in small circles. I thought people might be confused, but the response was overwhelming. Everyone said it was something fresh and unique. I was glad people loved the choreography,” he said.

Addressing criticism over expressing affection for his wife during the ceremonies, Hasan noted, “Many thoughts came to my mind, but I blocked them out. If I had worried about showing love publicly, it would have looked odd on camera. I was just very happy and wanted to express it. That wedding week was one of the best times of my life.”

Interestingly, Hasan also revealed that his parents once considered restricting phone use at the ceremony. “My mother asked if we should collect the guests’ phones, but I said if we did that, the family might get upset. So we decided to let things be.”

Beyond the viral dances and romantic moments, Hasan Raheem’s wedding stood out for highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan — from traditional attire to music and family customs — turning the private event into a celebration of identity that fans continue to cherish.
