Moderate Flood Situation Persists on Indus River; Villages in Sindh Affected

SINDH/PUNJAB:The Indus River at Kotri Barrage continues to experience a moderate flood situation, causing ongoing inundation in low-lying areas. Water inflow at the barrage has increased, reaching 407,000 cusecs, putting pressure on surrounding villages.

In **Thatta**, floodwaters have risen several feet in villages including Yar Muhammad Manchar, prompting residents to relocate toward nearby embankments. Many villagers remain in the area awaiting government assistance.

Near **Nawabshah**, several riverside villages have been submerged, with evacuation efforts ongoing. In **Matiari**, low-lying areas are also flooded, and residents of Hala villages are moving to safer locations using boats for self-rescue.

Meanwhile, water flow at **Guddu and Sukkur Barrages** is gradually decreasing.

In **Punjab**, river levels have returned to normal in many areas, though some districts remain affected by floodwaters. In **Jalalpur Pirwala**, five bodies were recovered following floodwaters’ receding. In **Kabirwala**, water from the Ravi and Chenab rivers has started to withdraw from settlements.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division in Lahore, after several weeks, the Sutlej River has returned to normal levels at **Ganda Singh Wala** and **Head Suleimanki**, with only minor flooding remaining at **Head Islam**, where water levels are gradually declining.
