Balochistan High Court Summons Top Officials Over Power Outages, Disconnection of Rural Connections

Quetta: The **Balochistan High Court (BHC)** has issued strong remarks over prolonged load-shedding in the province and the disconnection of household power connections following the shift of agricultural tube wells to solar energy.
A division bench comprising **Chief Justice Rozi Khan Barrech** and **Justice Sardar Ahmed Halimi** expressed displeasure over the absence of the **Balochistan Chief Secretary**, **Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister**, and the **CEO of QESCO** (Quetta Electric Supply Company), as well as their failure to submit a comprehensive report.
The court ordered the officials to **personally appear on October 7**.
The bench observed that **disconnecting electricity without prior notice** has badly affected farmers and rural communities. At the same time, instead of recovering dues from defaulters, QESCO has been imposing province-wide power cuts, causing severe disruptions for **students, traders, and government institutions**.
The court directed the concerned authorities to **appear at the next hearing and provide answers** to the questions raised.
