FIA Cracks Down on Hawala-Hundi in Karachi and Hyderabad, Four Suspects Arrested

KARACHI/HYDERABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its crackdown against illegal hawala-hundi networks and unlicensed currency exchanges, arresting four suspects in separate operations in Karachi and Larkana.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the Corporate Crime and Commercial Banking Circle Karachi, acting on the directives of the FIA Director General, arrested two suspects, Iqbal and Salman, from Nikal Road and PECHS. The suspects were allegedly involved in hawala-hundi and illegal currency trade. Authorities recovered cash worth Rs8.8 million, along with 2,155 US dollars, 5,835 UAE dirhams, Saudi riyals, and various prize bonds. Mobile phones and other evidence linked to illegal transactions were also seized.
Meanwhile, the FIA Hyderabad Zone’s Composite Circle Larkana arrested two more suspects, Ahsan Ali and Nadeem, from Qambar City, Larkana. Officials recovered Rs225,000 in cash, five mobile phones, and documents linked to hawala-hundi activities.
The FIA stated that the suspects failed to justify the recovered currency, and investigations have been launched. Raids are underway to apprehend their accomplices.
