Significant Rise in E-Bike Registrations Under CM Punjab Green Credit Program

LAHORE: The registration of electric bikes (e-bikes) has seen a remarkable increase under the CM Punjab Green Credit Program, following directives from Punjab Environment Secretary Salout Saeed.

According to Punjab Environment Department spokesperson Sajid Bashir, the number of registered e-bikes has reached 1,248 over the past eight months, with 755 new e-bikes registered in August 2025 alone.

He stated that the use of e-bikes is helping reduce noise, smoke emissions, and traffic congestion. Under the scheme, citizens receive five green credits, including a Rs. 50,000 incentive upon purchasing and registering an e-bike with the program. The amount is directly transferred to the buyer’s bank account or mobile wallet.

For the release of a second installment of Rs. 50,000, users must cover 6,000 kilometers within six months and upload the record through the Green Credit app, bringing the total benefit to Rs. 100,000.

Sajid Bashir added that e-bikes represent the future of eco-friendly, low-emission transport. The program is expected to reduce thousands of tons of annual carbon dioxide emissions. The Punjab government aims to shift 30% of the province’s transport to electric vehicles by 2030.
